Welcome to your futures past.

With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician, in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.
In 2304, the United Federation of Planets has entered into an era termed as the Golden Age. Benefiting from advancements in a number of different technologies, Starfleet continues to push forward the lines of space exploration and scientific discovery. With the stretches of the known galaxy being charted and catalogued, warp capable civilizations petition to join the United Federation of Planets as new member worlds. The Romulan Star Empire remains shrouded in their self-induced egocentric isolation, while the relationship with the Klingon Empire remains tenuous at best since the botched assassination attempt on the Federation President at the Khitomer Accords.
With the known borders pushing ever deeper into the unexplored, Starfleet calls every capable starship to the front line; the USS Nightingale is one of many answering this call. An Oberth-class vessel, the Nightingale has spent the better part of the past year berthed at Earth's Starbase 001 undergoing a complete overhaul and refit. One of Starfleet's few medically-centric starships, the Nightingale has been retrofitted to serve in the capacity of a mobile hospital and medical laboratory, rendering care and aid to those in need.
With final testing drawing to a close, the Nightingale is being re-crewed, seeking highly qualified candidates to serve in its vast array of departments. Focusing on detailed character development and exciting plot progression, we're encouraging those that have a deep rooted interest in the online collaborative storytelling universe of Star Trek to join our community of writers today!

The Rapid Response Team is often associated to that of our modern day emergency medical technicians and paramedics; in our little corner of the Star Trek universe, they'll serve as the first responders in case of emergencies. Skillfully and expertly trained in their descipline, they also help to pilot the two Type-3 Shuttlecraft that have been modified to serve in a capacity similiar to that of an ambulance. In essence, they shuttle injured and sick individuals from one location to another with the goal of ensuring the patient remains stable and alive. I'm proud to announce the arrival of our first ever Rapid Response Team Leader, Nicalya O'Dell EFTS/EMT, who is written for by Candy. Please join me in welcoming Candy to the USS Nightingale; she's had an interest in the role-playing game for quite some time and I'm exceptionally pleased to finally have the opportunity to welcome her on board!!!! Candy, as I said in the welcome message, please feel free to introduce your character on board the Nightingale however you're most comfortable with; if you'd like, I'm always up for a good joint post. ;-) It's great to have you... welcome!!!!

Ohai thar!!!! Okay, well, the roll call ended about forty-five minutes ago and I'm exceptionally happy to say that we have many of you that have elected to stick around and give me and the Nightingale another change. First and foremost, please allow me express my sincerest appreciation for the many emails of support and understanding I received; this means more to me than, well, than I could ever truly express. I appreciate your willingness to stick around and to help support this role-playing game community.
Alright, so, for the record, I'm pleased to announce that Matt, Ieuan, Lori, Will and Heather have all elected to remain with us. Unfortunately, I've had to move Andy and Amy over to the inactive manifest. Iuean did share with me that Andy is actually currently on ELOA from Theta Fleet as a whole at the moment, so that he may focus on his studies and examinations; my hope is that, when he returns to active status within Theta Fleet, that he'll also choose to rejoin with us here on the Nightingale. If my math is correct (and I sure hope it is), we still have six players that will allow us to remain an active role-playing game. Yay!!!!
I'm in the process of doing a little bit of recruitment, so perhaps if my efforts pay off, we'll be rewarded with a few new faces in the coming weeks (keep your fingers crossed, though).
I went ahead and opened posting up for S1.PM1 entitled Strange New Worlds. This mission will provide the opportunity for character introductions and development. My hope is that we can enjoy a chance to write with one another, to become better acquainted with our own unique writing styles while also allowing for each of us to slip back into the groove of active status. To that end, I'm actually going to start a few joint posts that I hope will help us all start to get a feel for what the Nightingale is supposed to be about.
In the meantime, please feel free to start introducing your respective characters and participate in a few joint posts with one another. If you do have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know!!!!
Once again, thanks to each of you for giving me and the Nightingale a second chance; let's see if we can make her one of the absolute best that Theta Fleet has to offer. :-)
Take care, Vince

Good evening and happy Monday everybody! As you've no doubt already noticed, the post involving our arrival to the colony has been submitted, so now we're ready to get into the bulk of our mission. I hope you're all as excited as I! Devastation is genuinely the only word that could adequately describe the carnage below; complete and utter devastation and chaos. The medical department's security services will be on hand to protect our trauma teams and to ensure our safety and instate some semblance of order at the field hospitals. Otherwise, expect mass panic.
Here is how the trauma teams are organized; x1 team leader, x2 Doctors and x5 nurses. The field hospitals can accommodate up to twenty-four patients at a time. They're very simplistic in the nature of how they're set up, but visually, think of what a forward-based military operating field hospital might appear.
The trauma teams are the following:
(1.) Trauma Team 1: Guinane (Team Leader) and Tarango,
(2.) Trauma Team 2: Monday (Team Leader) and Cannerfield,
(3.) Trauma Team 3: Hamilton (Team Leader) and McLeod,
(4.) Trauma Teams 4-12 are NPC'd facilities.
Kelly will head up a search and rescue detail that will include Reed and will rotate each of your character's at one point during the mission. As each of our character's have a very different skill sets and expertise, each will come in handy accordingly. Trauma Team's 2 and 3 are pediatric and obstetrics centric, so those patients requiring that specialized set of skills will be sent directly to those field hospitals via the Billroth and Alcott, which are under the operation of the Rapid Response Team (think 24th century paramedics).
Please feel free to go buck-wild with your posting and try to be as creative and detailed as possible; really, try to have fun and enjoy this mission. I'll be doing my best to throw wrench into the plot from time to time, we can't have it being too easy. ;-)
If any of you have questions and/or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know!
Enjoy, Vinnie
P.S.: The Mission Notes section of the website has been updated to reflect the above.
» Personnel Manifest.
Posted on Monday January 30th, 2012 @ 8:11am by Doctor Samuel Kelly M.D. in Website Update
Good morning and happy Monday!
As some of you may have noticed the primary manifest has recently been updated. After some in depth discussion last night with Will, Roy and a few other members of Theta Fleet, I elected to expand the manifest to include medical sub-departments. I would like to first start by sincerely thanking Will, who provided a comprehensive list of positions broken down into the sub-department categories you now see on the primary manifest. I would also like to thank Andy, who recommended this modification when he first joined the Nightingale. It was an excellent suggestion, yet one that I was hesitant to entertain in our meager beginnings. However, now that our family is starting to expand, I thought perhaps it was best now to entertain this modification. This modification allows for at least 52 open positions with options for additional postings of the same position, allowing for better recruiting opportunities for those individual who perhaps aren't enthusiastic about playing a medical practitioner, but perhaps a member of the medical support staff (e.g.: medical security services, medical engineering department, etc.). The manifest is organized by sub-department alphabetically, so hopefully that should help with the ease of search. :-)
I'm continuing my recruitment efforts, as I'd like to see our family continue to grow; if you know of anyone that might be interested in joining a very unique and dynamic RPG, please feel free to share a link to the Nightingale. :-)
Alright! Enjoy the start to your week ahead.
Take care, Vinnie

Good afternoon and happy Tuesday! I hope that each of your weeks has started swimmingly and that none of you are too bogged down with the real world happy's (just kidding :-P). I wanted to take a moment to let you all know of a few website updates that I've implemented as of late. I'll go ahead and highlight each of them below:
Main Page: I've taken the liberty of adding a few graphics to the main page of our website. The first graphic will always be the current mission banner and will lead back to our mission postings should a current or prospective player click on it. The other graphic is the Theta Fleet banner and clicking that will lead a current or prospective player to the Theta Fleet main page. Oh! With the help of Kitty (Todd), I also figured out how to insert a horizontal line break.
Personnel Page: After some careful consideration and a bit of thought, I've elected to showcase only active characters on the personnel page (also known as the manifest); toggling the secondary manifests will display S/NPC's as well as positions currently available on the Nightingale.
Sim Page: Like the main page to the our website, the sim page has also received a little bit of a facelift. I went ahead and edited a lot of the text (removing some parts and expanding on others). Towards the middle of the page, please note the addition of two new graphics, these graphics pertain to the specific Task Force and Task Group that the Nightingale is a part of in Theta Fleet.
Specifications: I've refined the specifications of the Oberth-class and its support crafts to be more in-line and in compliance with those set by Theta Fleet; however, there may be a variance here and there from time to time.
Crew Awards: We now have a crew awards page added to the website. This was a feature that took me a bit longer to activate than I initially thought; but with this being my week on vacation from work, I found that extra bit of time I was looking for. The crew award images are courtesy of Theta Fleet's Emily Woodhouse. Although these aren't the official crew award images used fleet-wide, I really enjoyed the creative-degree and thought that Emily took in crafting each graphic, so they will be RPG-specific graphics.
WIki: the wiki page has also received a bit of an update with three new pages. First, is the education page, which details the education a medical doctor would pursue in the achievement of their degree. The second and third pages are dedicated to a database that will be derived from our very own contributions (thanks to Will for kick-starting this project for me). They are databases oriented towards common medical ailments and common medications and treatments. Both pages serve as a quick reference guide to terminologies used in our own character contributions so that we have an easy way to track this type of knowledge. Anybody can add to these pages, so please don't hesitate to start letting your creative juices flow!
Alright! Well, those are the updates thus far. Stay tuned for any more that might come your way! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me a PM! :-)
Take care, Vince
